One of these days

page 14 of that
This doesn’t tell you anything that the old one didn’t except that apparently I can bloody well make one of these in under a week if someone else has already done all the thinking (specifically, me eight years ago) and I’m no use anyplace else.
Also it is more colorful than the older new old pages that showed the same scenery, which is great! I’m looking forward to working over these pages a fourth time to get everything consistent.
I do have an unremarkable excuse to not excise those pictures of the lizard driving along some road which is clearly in a totally different place in search of the exact same place, or at least I thought I typed one out a year or two years ago.

This here`s me trackback!
Fool's Gold sez:
The style of this page seems even more drastically different from the others than even the previous does, adopting much thicker brushstrokes and a somewhat more semi-abstract style, with fewer total (but more heavy contrasting) colors and a preference for implied detail rather than overt. That’s not necessarily a bad style (I’ve always has a certain fondness brick walls handled like those seen here), but it clashes rather severely both with the more recent pages (which the very goal of the revisions was to bring the earlier pages more in line with, no?), as well as the pages seen immediately before this one. For viewer reading this comic all at once, the effect would likely be quite jarring.
In other news, Kumquat apparently now speaks in toothpaste.
Rororivis sez:
I was concerned about Kumquat’s prominently yellow teeth.
I feel like I get better results with limited color palettes, but do have difficulty deciding where to place the limit.
I did say something about the line size in my last comment, but I only got around to writing it when I put this next page up!
Eh I had increased the image resolution and not properly calibrated my preferred color-lump layer. I decided it wasn’t of huge consequence when I realized the difference and should just get it done. Still I did start to refix some of it, may do more and will certainly be conscious of it in the future.
It may be my destiny to have a major style change every few pages, perpetually vainly grasping at a faster way of doing things.
