I didn’t forget about this! I just also didn’t do anything about it.

Important notice! Way back in December I mentioned the foodoid product combos and placed a link to a video sequence on another site. I entered the link improperly. Nobody cared, including myself, so I didn’t notice my error until today.
The link is this.

page 11 of that. I tried a different thing this time. I probably won’t try that again for a while!
Also I think a serious redesign of the lizard’s transport machine may be in order because it continually confuses me and it’s going to be used more later. In the preview I made evidently in June of last year, the driver is pulling down a handle to shut the door from the inside and I can’t remember what I was thinking. I also don’t remember the car having “doors.”
Also observe how much less fancy this looks if I erase this part of the green circle. The extra boundary conveys no information yet it makes me look edgy to have an oddly shaped, tiny, useless frame. It also makes me look edgy to have a useless frame with no edges. Circles are not practical for filling a rectangle-shaped space! Wastefulness is artistic.
Eh so with the next installment the last of the redraws of nine year-old pages will be completed! Ideally it will not be a ten year old page by then. And thus will commence the redrawing of five year old pages. Later I will have to redraw this when I realize it is an incredibly awkward flashback and that would make more sense to be shown first and then not be flashed-back to.
A bebopper sez:
Linguine’s “AH CAN’T SEE” comment is surely the highlight of this page. Somehow, I imagine this remark would not be nearly so amusing if it were punctuated.
I had never realized the top Muffineater’s vehicle looked so pumpkin-like. Speaking of things looking like other things, Muffineater’s one horn looks oddly Elpse-like in the first panel of the penultimate row. It does not look like this in the sketch version you posted, curiously enough.
I see you seem to be taking the sequence with Muffineater returning to Hat in a rather different direction here. I admit I somewhat miss the “humming/not humming” dichotomy, but I suppose it should be interesting to see where this version leads.
Zinkugel sez:
At some point I decided there shouldn’t be any comments from me inside the pictures themselves. It was probably when I read Jeff Smith boasting how he got through the entire Bone comic series without a single narration. Although I suppose those are less distracting than elpse making “ethnic sidekick” jokes that neither itself nor the other characters could possibly get. And then I have that bit reintroducing kumquat and pog and such, breaking my own law, and that’s probably been more help than nuisance, despite the entirely off-model appearances of the non-pogs.
And Jeff Smith can get away with that because his comics have regular people who go to regular bars all the time and have regular social relationships. He doesn’t NEED to explain anything. I don’t even know what I’m trying to communicate sometimes, so a label here and there could be most helpful, and occasionally amusing, potentially.
The hat situation will, disappointingly, likely be exactly the same as before, and this change probably just a tease. I did it so that somebody unacquainted with the old version might think the muffineater is totally out of its mind, rather than merely useless and pitiful. I contemplated having only the lizard able to hear the hat but I already showed the hat talking to one of the hospital creatures and jumping about on its own so I’ll leave that territory to others.
Grimbling sez:
Despite Lope being grating to other characters in the comics, I am ashamed to say that the lizard is probably the one I would tolerate the most. He’s just so endearing and he has the best fashion sense of all!
Zinkugel sez:
Thank you! It is always reassuring and encouraging to know that I have made a tolerable thing. I don’t recall my original intention, but in these times I relate best to pitiful characters, so that one has become the most enjoyable to make dumb things happen to.
As for fashion sense, you obviously missed the bright orange Hawaiian shirt the creature briefly wears on page ten and in the unfortunate flying doughnut picture.
