I spent far too long on this considering that I couldn’t even tell if it made sense. Which is consistent.
generally mario is only seen on adventures in hostile territory where jumping and shouting a lot may help in defeating or frightening foes, but perhaps like veteran soldiers or freed prisoners mario has difficulty outside of the dangerous situations he has adapted to survive in. but then as i spent longer [needlessly] refining certain bits of it I considered that I would not far too well either if stuff kept bumping into me and THEN I hit myself with a meatball, though still better than this.
and a truly masterful unrequested, non-preventable artificial intelligence assessment from faceboof. I am so glad the entire United States economy was force-fixated on to cramming this technology inextricably into everything.
another weirdo stomping around that i do not know what to do with apart from that. shooting fireballs from its eyes seems TOO obvious but is certainly an option. i have “wanted” for a while to have a wizard type creature that launched magic from its feet instead of its hands and this one looks sort of like a wizard, but i already drew the dumb sandals on it. Perhaps it just stares at foes and makes them uncomfortable.
its coat-like garment does not match the original drawing as well as the hood does because i had indecision about whether i should have green sleeves and purple cuffs or purple sleeves with green cuffs to be consistent with the hood. and so i switched them to totally different colors which can be swapped in-game to either way (and probably won’t work very well).
based on a dork from a 2018ish picture that i moderately renovated and reposted various places recently. i could barely remember drawing it so i imagined people who had seen it would barely remember having done so if they had. I changed the orange creature’s cowboy guns into candy canes because I was annoyed at the cognitive dissonance of frightwing pro-gun discourse persisting even as one of its adherents was gunned down by an alt-right-meming imbecile with weapons that their policies made sure were available and that their own constituents purchased, but I don’t find guns interesting anyway, just amusement in some gun-adjacent aesthetics like texas belts. you can’t tell that they are candy canes at this size and it didn’t seem worth adding extra layers to make sure the stripes were coherent but I know at least that they aren’t guns now.

in case clarification is required, this didn’t happen, to me, recently, but it has happened recently, though generally in the form of being TOLD rather than asked or even accused, and it has happened to me, and it can happen again, and even when it isn’t happening to me i know it would if it was aware of me. These attitudes are much older than touchy trump and precious kirksy’s influence on american culture; i have been called “faggot” since I was twelvish and “retard” before that. Trumpism and Kirkism and general racial supremacist creepism merely told adults who were abusive as children that it is acceptable to continue being abusive as adults. They saw that kind of garbage from the likes of the taliban and instead of thinking “we’re better than them because we don’t do that” they preferred “HEY why can’t WE do that? We’re better than them!”
the “i don’t talk about my problems” creature was based on someone reacting to the first three frames and it bothered me enough to add the fourth frame, and then i looked at that person’s youtube page and was reminded that he voluntarily uses a normal man’s name and is comfortable being filmed with a beard while wearing baseball hats and short sleeve shirts and I considered that i really don’t need to defer to this person’s experience since it is utterly different than mine but i already drew the character fairly vague and just added the beard which doesn’t look like the person’s actual casual shab jd vance beard and round sunglasses because he had those in one video and i inadvertently made that character more stylish than i intended to, so it has that going for it in the event my characterization is otherwise unfair.
Shortly after I posted the earlier version of that comic stripzoid without the fourth frame –it had been three frames across and I only turned it into a box to appease insta-gram’s irritating cropping system which could not be done properly prior to the additional frame balancing out the first one– I received this curious anonymous message on tumblr, where I had never mentioned any of these issues. I asked one person who enjoys sending me incomprehensible messages under varying identities who denied having done it on this occasion. “greener pastures” is such a gosh darn hokey phrase i assume it is either a regressive older person raised on hokey television or someone who listens to hokey older people talk on television a lot, and they’re usually condemning someone they don’t understand for extremely minor transgressions that they don’t want to understand.
And i know they know how to use websites to some degree since this is in place and presumably got money out of somebody. The world was not better and simpler when you or i or anyone was “growing up.” You were just better insulated against how crummy it was and knowledge of who was suffering the most for that, and you can’t “go back” to that, except mentally, by reinsulating yourself, because it doesn’t exist, and you can’t force anyone else to “go back” to that since they never were that.

gorf I would love to not keep talking about this creep. I much preferred when the main thing I knew about him was that he LOOKED like a scumbag who would be set in his ways and smugly imposing them on others by the time he got to high school. unfortunately since there is massive lag if certain monsters are present it is difficult to show what i intend to show here. There is also massive lag from certain types of structures, from loading any large graphics, and also from recording video. Additionally the video editor itself lags so i cannot always be sure if the video i already recorded shows lag or doesn’t.
FURTHER, most of the sound effects here are dubbed since the massive quantity of pog feet and the obnoxious WAH creatures were making too much noise in the initial video i managed to get, and also the scripts to open and close those doors is presently silent. And the variants of the metallic door (the one that is misaligned and in an incorrectly sized space) all use the same exact script right now anyway and thus would make the same sounds if they made any sounds. but they CAN. also the spiral door’s scale corrupts after the first frame. The important thing is that any of this works at all or is in a position where it potentially might since for years almost nothing did.
